The Rector of Jan Dlugosz University in Czestochowa, Prof. Anna Wypych-Gawrońska, officially signed the declaration of the University's accession to the Magna Charta Universitatum 2020. It is worth recalling that on April 15, 2021, JDU ratified the accession document. However, at that time, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was not possible to organise a proper ceremony. Two years ago, the document was signed by the Rector only on the University’s premises.

A few days ago, a ceremony of signing the act was organised during a meeting at the University of Lodz (October 23-25, 2023). It should be noted that every year the Magna Charta Observatory organises an international conference to address the current challenges of upholding fundamental values and serving society responsibly, as well as a ceremony to celebrate the signing of the Magna Charta Universitatum by successive rectors. This year was no different. The document was signed by representatives of many academic centres from almost all over the world. In addition to universities from European countries such as the United Kingdom, Turkey, Ukraine, rectors from Thailand, Argentina and Colombia have also declared cooperation.

The theme of this year's 2023 MCO conference in Łódź was: "Universities and Re-Construction of Cities: the Role of Research and Education".
