STUDENTS-TO-STUDENTS PROJECT IMPLEMENTED IN CZECH REPUBLIC BY MEMBERS OF PSYCHOLOGY STUDENT RESEARCH CLUB

The workshop How Neighbors See Us, about similarities and differences between nations, was carried out as part of the Students for Students 2023_2024 project. Students of the second and third year of Psychology, members of the student research club Agnieszka Sulińska, Dominika Ołubiec, Sandra Misztela, Julia Piasecka, Patryk Mirowski prepared and conducted workshops for students of the Silesian University in Opava. The aim of the workshop was to discuss the barriers that arise between Czechs and Poles as a result of established stereotypes and prejudices, and which are often taken over by subsequent generations without any justification. The theoretical introduction was presented by prof. Elżbieta Napora. The joint event brought together academic teachers and students of both universities.

In addition to the lecture and discussion on the understanding of stereotypes, the students actively participated in the practical part of the workshop, which was aimed at identifying the most common beliefs functioning in the societies of both countries. Not only were the specificity of national cultures and differences between them discussed, but also the results of public opinion on stereotypes. The meeting ended informally with typical Polish and Czech refreshments, which are traditionally served during Czech and Polish celebrations.

The event was organised by prof. Vlasta Cabanová, prof. Elżbieta Napora, Julita Kielińska, M.A., together with students of the Psychology Student Research Group from the Faculty of Social Sciences.

We would like to thank the dean's authorities for their kindness and help in the preparation of the event.
