​Professor Mikhail Brik winner of Chinese Government's Friendship Award


Professor Mikhail Brik from the Department of Theoretical Physics JDU is the winner of the Chinese Government's Friendship Award in 2023. In accordance with the regulations, the President and the Government of the People's Republic of China reward foreign experts who have made outstanding contributions to China's economic and social progress. Professor Brik, in addition to extremely effective scientific cooperation with universities in China, is an expert-tutor in the projects: 100 Overseas Innovative Talents, Wenfeng High-end Talents Project and Wenfeng High-end Talents Project, the aim of which is to support the effective development of the scientific careers of talented young scientists.

On September 28, 2023, the Prime Minister of China, Li Qiang, personally presented Professor Brik with a commemorative medal and diploma during the award ceremony (I am attaching some photos from the ceremony and a link to the information on TV). In the commemorative photo of all the laureates, in the first row next to the Prime Minister, is Sir Konstantin Novoselov, winner of the 2010 Nobel Prize in Physics (for the discovery of graphene).

Later in the ceremony, the awardees were invited to a reception on the occasion of the Chinese Foundation Day, where the President of China, Xi Jinping, gave a speech in which he also thanked the winners for their efforts. Professor Brik has been working at our university since 2015, he is a scientist with significant and internationally recognized scientific achievements (according to the Scopus database: 491 publications, h-index 56, 13,020 citations).
