Prof. Dr. Med. Aleksander Sieroń was appointed by the Minister of Health to act as a national consultant in the field of angiology for a period of 5 years. Prof. Aleksander Sieroń is a graduate of the Silesian University of Technology and the Silesian Medical Academy. As a doctor, he obtained specialisations in internal diseases, cardiology, angiology, hypertensiology, balneoclimatology and physical medicine. He obtained the title of professor of medicine from the President of Poland in 1999. He is also honorary professor at the Silesian University of Technology. He received his honorary doctorate from the Uzhhorod National University in Ukraine and the Senate of the Silesian University of Technology. His foreign academic achievements include more than 100 works in foreign journals with the IF and several hundred in the country. He is the editor or author of more than 100 textbooks, monographs and books in the field of medicine. Professor has a H-Index of 20 according to Scopus. He promoted 33 doctoral students, among whom there are ten independent research academics, six of whom obtained the title of professor. He led to the degree of specialist more than a hundred doctors. He is vice-chairman of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Genetics and Animal Biotechnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences and vice-chairman of the Committee on Medical Physics, Radiobiology and Diagnostic Imaging of the Polish Academy of Sciences. He is a member of, among others, the Royal Medical Society UK, as well as the national and international editorial board of scientific journals. He has held many scientific organisational functions in the country and abroad. As for our University, Prof. Aleksander Sieroń is the President of the Council for the Discipline of Health Sciences and the Rector’s Representative for Medical Sciences and Health Sciences.
