A VISIT OF PHD STUDENTS FROM MADRID TO THE INSTITUTE OF HISTORY

On March 1-13, three doctoral students writing doctoral theses under the supervision of Professor José María Faraldo Jarillo - Gabriela Martínez Betancourt, Diego Ruíz Panadero and Diego Latorre Manglano visited our University as part of the NAWA PROM Programme. During their stay, they conducted a series of short lectures for students of Iberian Studies, thanks to which they presented cultural and historical topics related to Spanish-speaking countries and the 20th century. Among the presented issues, students could hear about the issues of "PAX SOVIETICA" in the light of the activities of the Spanish communists, the workers' movement in 1957-1977 in Spain, or the issue of transculturalism in relation to cinema and posters from Puerto Rico in the 1950s. The meeting was an opportunity to exchange ideas, gain new experience and skills in teaching and research. The arrival of doctoral students from the Complutense University of Madrid created an opportunity to deepen future cooperation between our universities, especially in the field of history and cultural studies. During their free time, the guests from Spain also got acquainted with the history of Warsaw and our city and region. The visit enabled the PhD students to conduct archive/library queries, too.
