On July 3, 2020, Elżbieta Napora, a research fellow at the University's Department of Psychology, received her DSSc degree (habilitation) in psychology based on her research paper entitled Relationships in a single-mother family. The importance of support from grandparents for adolescent peer communication. The degree, being a token of appreciation for her work, commitment, as well as her scientific, didactic, organisational and popularasing activity, was conferred by a resolution of the Council of the Psychology Discipline at the University of Gdańsk.
Elżbieta Napora’s research focuses on family relationships of different configurations, including a single-mother family. The expanded and profiled research theme also concerns the participation of grandparents in this type of family. The results obtained so far are relevant and provide an important guide for use in therapy and in educational counselling.
