JDU A PARTNER OF 'INNOVATIVE EUROPEAN REGIONAL UNIVERSITIES' FOR ERASMUS+ 'EUROPEAN UNIVERSITIES' alliances

On 16-17 January, a meeting in Caserta near Naples (Italy) brought together the members of the consortium of universities who are co-creating a competitive project proposal within the Erasmus+ KA2: International projects - ‘European Universities’. Our University was represented by the Vice-Rector for Research & International Relations professor Janusz Kapuśniak and the coordinator for the Erasmus+ Programme Bartłomiej Kowalik MA.

What are 'European Universities’?
These are transnational alliances of higher education institutions which are intended to be European universities of the future.

What are the objectives of 'European Universities'?
- to share and implement an integrated long-term joint strategy for education, possibly linked to research, innovation and society at large
- to establish a European higher education inter-university ‘campus’
- to build European knowledge-creating teams ('challenge-oriented approach') consisting of students and academics, possibly with the participation of researchers, businesses, regional entities and civil society entities; these teams, taking a multidisciplinary approach, respond to chosen social and other challenges

Apart from JDU, the alliance includes universities from France (Le Mans Université), Spain (Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha – LEADER), Germany (Universität Paderborn), Sweden (Mälardalens högskola), and Italy (Università de studi della Campania Luigi Vanvitelli). During the meeting in Caserta, the Vice-Rector signed an official agreement on inter-university cooperation. At the application stage, JDU will be represented by: Professor Janusz Kapuśniak - coordinator, dr Małgorzata Kurek (Institute of Linguistics), Professor Małgorzata Makowska-Janusik (Dean of the Faculty of Science & Technology), Bartłomiej Kowalik MA (Department for Research & International Relations) and Anna Skowron MA (Institute of Linguistics).

The meeting in Caserta was the second project meeting attended by the JDU representatives. Previously, the talks took place on 16 December 2019 in Brussels and our University was represented by dr Małgorzata Kurek and Bartłomiej Kowalik MA. The deadline for submission of applications is the end of February. There is still a lot of work ahead to be done, but the contribution of our University has already been very highly appreciated.
