FAREWELL TO PROFESSOR BEATA BEBEL-KARANKIEWICZ

It is with great sadness and sorrow that we say goodbye to Professor Beata Bebel-Karankiewicz, a long-time academic at the Faculty of Art of our University.

Prof. Beata Bebel-Karankiewicz was a graduate of the Faculty of Painting of the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków; Professor obtained her diploma under the supervision of Prof. Jan Szancenbach in 1985. At the Academy she also obtained a first-degree qualification in 1997 and a doctorate degree in 2015.

Prof. Beata Bebel-Karankiewicz had been associated with Jan Dlugosz University in Czestochowa since 1988. Her very rich artistic and scientific achievements and many years of teaching experience were a strong pillar of the functioning of the Chair of Painting and the Faculty of Art.

Prof. Beata Bebel-Karankiewicz organised dozens of individual exhibitions in the country and abroad. She participated in exhibitions, shows and festivals of contemporary art in Poland and around the world. Many years of experience in international university didactics, classes conducted in culturally diverse education systems (in Germany, Slovakia, Romania, Czech Republic, Croatia, China), cooperation with academic teachers from international centres and classes conducted at the Faculty of Art of JDU in Częstochowa are a great example of the integration at the artistic and cultural level. The painting language, which was the most important for Prof. Beata Bebel-Karankiewicz, was studied as part of the ongoing interdisciplinary NAWA project - "Painting the Polish Language". For more than three decades, she shared her passion and commitment with many generations of students and people who love art.

With great pain and regret we accepted the news of Beata's death, saying goodbye to our Dear Friend and Educator.

We extend our sincere condolences to the family.
